The Black Hive is the centerpiece of this 2nd Edition Warhammer 40,000 site which focuses on "non-traditional" Tyranid, Genestealer Cult, Chaos and Traitor Marine themes. All these forces challenge Imperium control and compete with each other within an isolated arm of our galaxy, on the edge of Imperial-garrisoned space.
As such, these forces have evolved into rather unique or unusual variants of their cousins in more hotly contested areas. New, deadly variants of Tyranids have been developed by the Black Hive, whose ships raid the space lanes in this sector. A strong, vicious Genestealer hybrid army led by an outlawed former Space Marine Librarian has reached an uneasy truce and cooperates with this Hive fleet.
At the same time, a small yet powerful chapter of Chaos Marines has carved itself an outpost on the planet Yehz-4, from which it raids Imperial, Eldar and Ork outposts. These "Red Slayers" have, by right of strength and their proven usefulness, managed to ally with, but are not subservient to, the Lords of Slaanesh, which dominate the area.
And finally, bands of "free" Zoats. These Zoat bands are the remnants of an ancient, almost mystical, race, genetically engineered and subverted by Tyranids millenium ago. No longer the slaves of their former masters, these Zoats broke away to operate on their own, and now have but one purpose in life - to hunt down and destroy Tyranids and their Genestealer cult allies no matter where they are found.
As you peruse the following "armies", you will find complete (and sometimes colorful or humorous) histories; force lists; pictures; new variants, bio-morphs, and wargear - all in accordance with 2nd Edition themes. Oh yes, and a little bit about a small group of Orks who happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time (or vice versa) and got mixed up in a very unhealthy corner of the universe. A Must Read!
