The Grenadier Guards
Some general introductory text.
The Grenadier Guards is one of the oldest and most famous regiments in the British Army. Formed in 1656 as "The First Regiment of Foot Guards", they were renamed "The First or Grenadier Regiment of Foot Guards", in honour of their defeat of The Grenadiers of The French Imperial Guard at The Battle of Waterloo in 1815.
The regiment has fought in almost every major campaign of the British Army, since its formation to the present day, forging a proud and costly heritage. Today the Grenadier Guards are a part of the modern British Army, as capable on operational service in distant parts of the world, as they are on duty as the Royal Guard in London.
